Tickled Pink Tutorial - Tea light candle card

Hi everyone. It is Pink Lady Kylie Blonde here to share a tutorial with you on how to make a Tea Light card.

First off, you will need a piece of card stock measuring 5 inches x 11 inches (that is 12.5 cm x 28 cm for your metric girls), and a piece of cardstock measuring 5 1/2 inches x 5 1/2 inches ( 14cm x 14 cm)/

Taking your square piece first, score a fold at 1/2 inch and 1 1/4 inches on each side (1.2 cm and 3 cm) so there is a square in the centre that measures 3 inches (7.5cm).

Score the larger rectangle piece of cardstock at 5 inches (12.5 cm) and 6 inches (15 cm), so your card measures 5 inches square with a 1 inch spine.

Very carefully cut a square section out of the middle of the square section, approx 1/2 inch from the innermost score line. The square you cut out will be approx 2 inches (5 cm).

Fold all of your score lines and cut out the sections as shown below

This step is optional - cut a piece of acetate to fit inside your box section to cover the hole and adhere it in place.

Working from the back of the box, fold in your sides and then fold up the bottom and using some strong adhesive to hold it in place.

Snip small angles off the top flap of the box and decorate the front of it.

Next, adhere the box to the inner panel of your card. I have decorated my card with mats, etc so the box needs something that is going to hold it in place as the candles are a bit heavy... So I have used my trusty hot glue gun to ensure it doesn't fall off. Make sure you have the top flap of your box "open" when you do this so you don't accidentally glue it in place.

And then finish assembling your card

This is the finished front

And inside!

Stamps used in this tutorial are:

thank you! But if we do the second step "Taking your square piece first, score a fold at 1/2 inch and 1 1/4 inches on each side (1.2 cm and 3 cm) so there is a square in the centre that measures 3 inches (7.5cm)" we have 5,5 cm not 7,5! maybe we have to score a fold at 1,2cm and 2cm??? thank you

Thank you so much for the wonderful tutorial, I've just made one and will blog it later. Mine is slightly bigger as my tealights were wider so I altered the dimensions to fit xxx

Ive just tried making this card and unfortunately it hasn't worked out. I can't get four tealight candles into the card. Any suggestions where I may have gone wrong please? I've followed everything exactly as detailed above.

This is so clever! And so useful! I feel like I've found the perfect item to make for Christmas present, something I struggle with every year, even to the point that I make nothing because it's never just the right thing. (I hope that makes sense. lol) I've bookmarked this tut. So, thanks so much for this!
